CITIGROUP Shanghai Headquarter

The design of the new Citigroup Shanghai Headquarters office building represents a coordinated and intelligent approach that balances the efficient use of interior space with the modernist architectural form of the landmark riverfront building. The design solution is elegant and rational, providing maximum spatial flexibility as well as an attractive and comfortable working environment. The interiors of the new Citigroup offices emphasize visual transparency. To enhance access to views and daylight, virtual all architectural partition walls parallel to the exterior curtain wall are glazed¡£ Enclosed individual offices£¬ and meeting rooms are generally located again exist the central core wall or set back from the exterior wall to reduce the number of visual obstructions and improve the general work environments.

The principles of simplicity and transparency carry through all eight floors of the headquarters, and are especially pronounced on the 35th floor reception lobby; upon entry, a 30-meter long expanse of clear glazing allows spectacular, unobstructed skyline views. Opposite this interior glazed wall£¬ a generous 5-meter deep gallery zone serves as overflow space and incorporates informal meeting areas within a linear, richly patterned wood enclosure. All glazed interior walls, incorporate sealed integral motorized blinds to control privacy and create additional visual texture.

For general open office areas, workstation types are rationalized to accommodate a wide range of user needs and seniority levels while maintaining maximum flexibility. Seniority differences are maintained by floor position, workstation components, finishes, and partition types.

Common facilities are dispersed throughout the project; this arrangement creates a use-friendly environment and emphasizes inter office communication. Conference rooms and other shared facilities are placed in similar locations on all floors to improve way finding and effective use by individual business units.

Soft fabrics, light-colored carpeting, and warm finish colors are used in conjunction with high-tech metal ceilings, stainless steel hardware, and sleek glazing. These contrasting materials complement each other to create a unique environment of understated elegance and an optimistic sensation of limitless space.
