Shanghai Hongqiao Passenger Railway Station

The design of the new Shanghai Hongqiao High Performance Railway Station (HPIH) responds to the functional needs of the Shanghai urban region, and its requirements as a world-class inter-modal transport hub.

In accordance with the masterplanning requirements, the site incorporates Qingpu Light rail, Metro lines M2, M10 and M13 and the Maglev train lines, making the Hongqiao HPIH a major transport network that includes railway systems, air transport, long-distance bus travel, metro, light rail, public buses and taxis, and private vehicles.

The design is generated by the needs of the individual traveler, especially with regards of passenger flow. The planning systematically integrates all major functions, with the intention of reducing walking distances for passengers and maximizing the efficiency for the users of the various transportation modes.
